I'd like to introduce a new series with a powerful message directed both at seasoned generals and new recruits in the great controversy. This series serves as a final wake-up call for Adventist leaders, urging them to assess the times we're living in and make a firm resolve to take decisive action as the great clock of time counts down the final moments of Earth's history. It challenges us to understand our critical role in God's plan, awakening to the present truth of our time and hastening our Lord's return.
This message is also my contribution to the attendees of the upcoming Advent Leaders Unconference. To them, I say:
“Grace be to you and peace from God our Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ.”
“It is the privilege…to cherish a spirit of hopefulness and courage.”
“It will be well for us to consider what is soon to come upon the earth…If the times in which we are living fail to impress our minds seriously what can reach us?”
“Men of clear understanding are needed now. God calls upon those who are willing to be controlled by the Holy Spirit to lead out in a work of thorough reformation.”
The prophet told us she saw...
“...a crisis before us and the Lord calls for His laborers to come into line. Every soul should now stand in a position of deeper truer consecration to God than during the years that have passed.”
“When the Lord sets His hand to prepare the way before His workers it is their duty to follow where He directs.”
We read that she had been deeply impressed that there seemed to be a great movement, a work of revival going forward in many places...
“I have been deeply impressed…there seemed to be a great movement—a work of revival—going forward in many places. Our people were moving into line responding to God’s call.”
The General Conference Bulletin, May 19, 1913
“I therefore the prisoner of the Lord beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called with all lowliness and meekness with longsuffering forbearing one another in love; Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.”
Ephesians 4:1-3
This is not a message of passive waiting for Christ to return. We are not just looking for the coming of the Day of the Lord. 2 Peter 3:12 tells us we are to hasten the coming of the Day of God.
“Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?”
2 Peter 3:12
We read the same in Desire of Ages, that by giving the gospel to the world—or by living the gospel—it is in our power to hasten our Lord's return. The power to hasten is a powerful calling. We can be co-laborers with Christ and have the power to hasten His return.
“By giving the gospel to the world it is in our power to hasten our Lord's return.”
Desire of Ages, DA 633.3
But it seems we are missing something—some connective tissue, the ability to connect the dots. That is what Operation Hasten is for. It's a military-style operation to bring about the return of Christ, and this must happen through six key points.
First, we must understand and embrace present truth. This includes urgency about the times we are living in and a mission to vindicate the Father by preparing a people who can stand in the great day. From this, we need to empower and mobilize the youth to accept their divine role as the final generation, clearing away any obstacles that hinder spiritual growth, and allowing them to develop as strong, faithful leaders.
To do this, we must break free from Babylon—spiritually, physically, and mentally. We need to separate from the cities and embrace country living, immersed in nature, which is God's lesson book. This will foster a deeper understanding of how we are to train, through true education, focusing on restoration, development, and realizing the full potential of each individual. Ultimately, this prepares a people to stand through the investigative judgment. A byproduct of this preparation is evangelizing the cities and spreading the gospel through practical and effective methods, reaching people where they are, both spiritually and physically.
But to do this, we must nurture Christlike characters. Our focus needs to be on personal holiness and readiness for the final events. Brothers and sisters, these are our objectives—our marching orders. We must embrace present truth, which includes activating the youth, separation, true education, evangelism, and Christlike characters. All of these incorporate the health message in each step.
In order to achieve this, we first need a radical mindset shift, and that starts with heeding the times. We need to understand the times we're living in, awaken to a sense of urgency, and shoulder the responsibility we've been given to be co-laborers, tearing down obstacles in our way, finding love through unity, encouraging the burden bearers, and nurturing the faith of Jesus. We need to understand the importance of righteousness by faith. We also need a complete mindset shift to truly understand what evangelism is.
In this series, I plan to go through each of these points. I ask that you search your heart to discern if there is a message here for God's final people. My desire is to pass the mantle. For seven years, I have been working on studying theology, world religions, Adventist history, true education, and righteousness by faith. It is time for new burden bearers to step up. This is a call for activation—Operation Hasten is a call to pass the mantle to the younger generation, to activate them, and to take a stand.
And so with this, I pray: Father, we thank You for the hearts You've placed in the members of this community. We ask that You send Your Holy Spirit to guide our thoughts, give us a sense of urgency for the times we're living in, and prepare us to be used in Your service. In the name of our Savior, Jesus, we pray. Amen.
