Focus

What is the focus?

One extreme where we focus on the community is: “Let’s skip the afternoon’s study program so we can finish… “building the tiny house” or “harvesting the corn” or “preparing for the camp”

On the other extreme we would say: “So that the student is less distracted and can focus on courseware, let’s: ”cut back on the # of land projects” or “have a smaller garden” or “not allow as many side events”

Example Focus
  • We are community focused in that more than anything we put our mission first... we exist is to hasten our Lord's return (2 Peter 3:12 / DA 633.3)
  • We are student focused in that our strategy is understood that “the Lord has appointed the youth to be His helping hand.” (7T 64.2)
  • We understand that True Education requires manual labor (SpTB11 29.2) and students should understand what it takes to run a homestead as part of their education. However we are to protect from low morale:
    • Lack of planning and task switching
    • Work smart, be proactive and avoid unnecessary distractions
    • Accept that homestead life has unexpected emergencies which we should not shield the students from reality.
